The business won its category, Excellence in Innovation, then went on to take out the big award in the glamorous evening at Gunnedah Civic Centre last night.
Business manager Mathew Jensen said the acknowledgement “enhances our team environment and promotes that momentum, the journey that we’re on”.
“It will be business as usual, but we will continue to promote what we’re doing and … that others believe that there is recognition in what we have done, too.”
NSW Business Chamber New England North West manager Joe Townsend congratulated Wholegrain Milling Company for taking out the region’s top honour.
“This year’s winners should feel incredibly proud to be named as the region’s leading businesses for 2017, and we wish them every success as they continue to represent the region at the NSW Business Chamber State Business Awards later this year,” Mr Townsend said.
The family-owned business specialises in producing a wide range of superior organic and sustainable flours and grain products.
In recent years, it has developed Certified Sustainable; the only food system in Australia that is traceable, fully audited and tested as chemical-free.
The innovation has provided the industry and the farmers with a new and different farming management plan with more control over their systems.
Mr Jensen said it had also given consumers more choices in the provenance of their food.
