Trivia maestro Anne McMahon excelled herself this year with everyone puzzling over the wide range of topics and a page of cryptic clues.
The champion team took an early lead and were each presented with a miniature trophy for their trouble, while the tail-enders each received an eraser “to rub out their wrong answers”.
Returning members Suzanne Feodoroff and Jill Sampson were welcomed back and presented with their badges and member packs by President Margaret Stevens.
The upcoming VIEW National Convention in Tamworth has attracted some big name speakers for a series of functions over the three days.
There has been a change to one of the guest speakers, with Julia Baird unable to attend as advertised. Her place at the Writer’s Festival on Saturday, September 16, will be filled by Jane Hutcheon, host of ABC TV’s One Plus One and author of two non-fiction books. Registrations close on August 25.
The September dinner meeting will be a night of charades, with the club’s 27th birthday in October, embracing the theme 27 Dresses from the movie. Members are asked to search out any bridesmaids’ dresses or other wedding attire they may have tucked away to make up a parade on the night.
Trish Ducrow is to provide the competition prize and Irene Ellis the lucky door prize for the next meeting, on Wednesday, September 6. Apologies and guest names should be phoned to Kate Knight on 6742 3926 by Monday night prior to the meeting.
