Ms Hoddle is one of Gunnedah Shire Council’s newest recruits, taking up the position of economic development manager.
Gunnedah is the home town of the young woman who attended local schools. Her family name is well-known, with parents Robert and Fiona owning the successful Gunnible Pastoral Company just out of Gunnedah.
Ms Hoddle has been living in Sydney for almost ten years, working in marketing and sales for brands including Ben Sherman.
“After 10 years living away from Gunnedah, I wanted to return to be around my friends and family,” she said.
“It’s a really exciting position to be in because I’m at the forefront of growing Gunnedah and maximising every opportunity to ensure we have sustainable growth.
“I'm excited to be back in Gunnedah and working for the community.”
Ms Hoddle said a major part of her role would involve building relationships with business owners and working closely with Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce.
“Gunnedah has already has strong agricultural and mining industries, but it’s just making sure that we also put in place industries to safeguard us from the boom-bust cycle that our two major industries experience,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to promoting business in the shire.”
General manager, Eric Groth, said Ms Hoddle was one of four new employees at the council.
“[They] are all local Gunnedah residents and have strong ties to the area,” he said.
