Gunnedah Forsyths’ principal, Tim Brett, and foundation representative, Megan Ellbourn, visited The Gatepost on Friday to hand over the cheque to therapist Sarah Ferguson.
The funds were raised by local Forsyths staff and matched dollar-for-dollar by the business. This is the second year the foundation has made a local donation.
Ms Ellbourn said the Gunnedah staff voted on which organisation should receive the donation and The Gatepost “won out by a large margin”.
“[The Gatepost’s] not something that Gunnedah’s ever really had and it’s something [our staff] thought deserved support to keep it in our area,” she said.
Ms Ferguson said the staff were “thrilled” when they found out The Gatepost had been chosen.
“It will be going directly to pay for therapy services for people who can’t pay. We have a unique model here – those who can pay, do, and those who can’t, don’t,” she said.
