National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. It is now in its 17th successful year of being held.
The children will also be invited to make a cow tripping over the moon to take home with them on the day.
Following the National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday, the library will be presenting the next round of 1000 Books Before School milestone certificates.
Also on Wednesday, May 24, Paint the Town REaD will be launching a reading egg. This egg will travel around the community to different playgroups, the local library, preschools, childcare centers and schools, so the children of Gunnedah can read, talk, and sing to the egg to help the creature inside it grow.
Books added to the collection in the past week include The Shifting Light – every picture tells a story… but not always the truth by Alice Campion. The Cutthroat, an Isaac Bell adventure by Clive Cussler and Justin Scott. A junior fiction series Dork Diaries is Diary of a Wimpy Kid for girls by Rachel Renee Russell.
