Cathy Armstrong and Rowen Matthews will hold an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on May 25 at 10.30am.
Ms Armstrong said she was planning a “deliciously pretty array of foods” such as zucchini and pink peppercorn pancakes with ocean trout and crème fraiche; little quince and mascarpone tarts with toffee hazelnuts; baby lemon and polenta syrup cakes; roasted chicken sandwiches; and little slow-roasted lamb turnovers.
“It’s a substantial morning tea, and we’re trying to give as much to charity as we can,” she said.
“I’ve collected the most beautiful hand-embroidered tablecloths, fabric napkins and proper lovely old china teacups, so it’ll be really pretty; it will be on the verandah.”
The couple have been making their mark on the property, and Ms Armstrong said they’d be happy to show people around.
“Rowen has a fantastic contemporary art collection, by him and other well-known Australian artists, so if people would like to have a look, we could give them a little house tour to see that and what we’ve done in general.”
Ms Armstrong said it was fitting for their first event to be in aid of the Cancer Council.
“It’s a heartfelt cause to us both; breast cancer has affected several close people in our lives and we’re grateful for the opportunity to help contribute to breast cancer research,” she said.
