Paul Hope said the family-operated business has been delivering fuel for more than 40 years. He has also run thoroughbreds for the past 12 and relished the opportunity to combine his passion for horses with business.
“Gunnedah has been good to us,” Mr Hope said.
“It’s good to give something back.”
Jockey club secretary manager Mark Storey said the new deal sweetened a promising start to Gunnedah’s 2017 winter cups.
“This is a first-ever,” Storey said.
Three race meetings in as many months are scheduled for Gunnedah’s Riverside Racecourse.
The club hosts Somerton Cup (Thursday, May 18), Gunnedah Gold Cup (Sunday, May 28) and Curlewis Cup (Friday, July 7).
Excitement is building for the club’s premier race meeting – the 2017 Hope Fuel Gunnedah Gold Cup.
To coincide with the club’s 150th year celebration, the committee is offering a $1000 lucky door prize for all attendees on May 28.
There is also $1000 in prizemoney on offer for fashions in the field winners across three categories – classic, open and men’s divisions.
Storey said it is important Gunnedah and district backed this annual event to ensure it lives on long into the future.
“We need the support of our community... we need to show Racing NSW we need these race meetings,” he said.
