It is Daniel’s 16th Australian whipcracking title and 20th consecutive championship competed in. The 25-year-old puts his success down to knowing his routine.
“My routine went pretty smoothly,” Daniel said.
When you do a routine, you nominate the tricks and do ones you know well and then throw in a few to surprise them.”
Whipcracking is in the Wicks family’s blood, with younger sister Brooke winning the ladies event, making it her fourth consecutive Australian ladies title. Brooke also took out the major award for whipcracking accuracy.
Dad Steve also won the over 45s section.
Daniel is now preparing for the Clydesdale Spectacular at Boonah on June 17-18.
“We hold the Queensland title up there and I hope to be going for another Australian title at that one,” he said.
