The dog display is one of a range of first-time show performances including model aeroplane aerial displays, a showcase by Totally Dance and stunt motorcycle demonstrations.
Taz Kelpies owner-operator Bruce Bell has been in the working dog business for about 7-8 years but said this weekend will be one of the first “official” appearances as their own stud.
On display this weekend will be experienced dogs and rookies to demonstrate the value of their on-farm contribution.
“It’s a bit of exposure so people can witness the brains of the dog and just what a sheepdog can do,” Mr Bell said.
The Taz Kelpies Facebook page encouraged locals to stop by for a chat.
“We will be demonstrating our sheepdogs at the Gunnedah show this year at the Gunnedah showgrounds Saturday at 4pm,” the post read.
“We will be there all day so please come on over and say g'day and learn all you need to know about training and working kelpies on sheep.”
The Gunnedah Show program starts Friday with showjumping events. Sideshow alley opens later that afternoon.
The program continues all day Saturday and into the evening before finishing up lunch-time Sunday.
The show rodeo and annual wife-carrying competition are scheduled for 8.30pm Saturday.
