The 2016 drama film is based on an untold, true story about a team of African-American women mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the US space program.
The film stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae and is directed by Theodore Melfi.
Katherine Johnson (Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Monae) served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, an achievement that restored the nation’s confidence and galvanized the world.
The premiere will be held on Thursday, March 30 from 7pm at The Civic.
Supper will follow the movie screening.
Tickets are $25 and available from Second Edition Bookshop.
