Many fish species found the hooks at some stage including golden perch, silver perch, cod, catfish and even some troublesome carp were removed from the dam.
Cooper Patterson was the big winner on the day after landing a 54cm catfish for the monthly medal and $100 prize.
Not to be out done was Coop’s brother Will who also landed the biggest yellow-belly for a junior on the day. David Rankin from Tamworth was also in the winner’s circle with a nice yella and Dave Perrett with a rarely seen silver perch.
The club thanked sponsors ANZ Bank and Mitre 10 in Gunnedah.
The next monthly fishing comp will be April 8 and will be closely followed by the Carp We Don’t Keepit fishing completion on the Easter weekend April 15-16. The competition aimed to remove as many carp as possible from the dam.
