Captain Richard Day and his wife Gaye Day arrived in Gunnedah three weeks ago with their four-year-old daughter Chloe.
The pair were welcomed with a meet and greet lunch at Hope House on Friday.
Mr and Mrs Day have come from Emerald where they were posted for four years.
Mrs Day said they had enjoyed their time in Gunnedah so far.
“It’s a very friendly place,” she said.
“Everywhere you go, everyone talks to you. It’s very welcoming.”
The Salvation Army will start a playgroup for 0-5 year-olds tomorrow from 10am to 12pm.
