Essential Energy crews immediately responded to the power interruption which affected 1243 households and businesses including the CBD.
Regional manager for Essential Energy, Ben Williams, said for the safety of the public and their property, the power network switched itself off after sensing a problem.
“Our local crews were immediately dispatched to patrol the network,” Ben said.
“Crews worked as quickly as safety would allow and power was switched back on to all households and businesses at 12.02am on Monday morning.”
An investigation into the cause of the unplanned power interruption is continuing.
“I apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience while crews worked to restore power,” Ben said.
