A 19-year-old man who fell from an awning at Gunnedah’s Courthouse Hotel on Sunday morning and suffered critical injuries is now listed as serious but stable in hospital.

Emergency services were first called to the Gunnedah pub at about 4am following reports of a fall at the venue.
The young man is believed to have sustained a head injury, after he fell from an awning attached to the hotel.
Passers-by raised the alarm, and witnesses and hotel staff attempted to assist the man until emergency services arrived.
The man was taken to Tamworth hospital by road ambulance, however he was airlifted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to John Hunter Hospital at about 10am on Sunday.
A Hunter New England Health spokesperson told The Namoi Valley Independent on Tuesday morning the 19-year-old remains in a serious but stable condition.
The injured man was believed to have been working as an entertainer at the hotel on Saturday night.
The venue had played host to a number of high-profile DJs from the Candy Entertainment group as visiting acts from Sydney.

A Courthouse Hotel spokesman said the thoughts of the hotel’s staff are with the young man and his family.
“Since the incident we have been advised by the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) and our insurance,” the spokesperson said.
“We will be proactive in taking steps to prevent any future accidents by adding key-operated locks to all of the hotel’s windows.
“This is an unfortunate accident and the thoughts of everyone here at the Courthouse Hotel are with the young man and his family.”
Oxley detectives established a crime scene at the hotel on Sunday morning allowing forensic officers from Tamworth to comb the area.
A Gunnedah police spokesperson told The Namoi Valley Independent on Tuesday the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
“At this point, it is looking like a case of unfortunate misadventure,” the spokesperson said.
“At this stage it is not believed to be suspicious.
“As always, if anyone has information in relation to this incident they should contact Gunnedah Police Station.”
The Namoi Valley Independent has reached out to Candy Entertainment but was unable to contact a spokesperson before going to print.
