The 24-year-old won his first club singles championship during the year – when he defeated former champion Scott Thorning in the final – claimed the championship triples with Tim and Scott Thorning and also won the fours title with Terry Whitton and Tim and Scott Thorning.
He was awarded the Namoi Valley Bowler of the Year by incoming Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club president Steve Campbell.
The award has been given out each year since 1993 when the first winner was former greenkeeper Peter Johnson.
Eather also won the Nowland pairs with Tim Thorning and the mixed fours with Angela and Margo Marshall and Scott Thorning.
Eather had put the writing on the wall for a standout 2017 when he was runner-up in the club singles in 2016 to go with winning all four minor grade events.
The minor singles winner in 2017 was Adam King – who downed Ken Guest in the fina.
He also linked up with his father Barry and Chris Ley to win the triples and partnered Barry King, Chris Ley and Steve Hill in the fours.
The club’s youngest male bowler – 10-year-old Tim Thorning – was a star of the day, winning the championship triples, championship fours, junior singles, the Ron Percy consistency pairs, most improved junior bowler and the Nowland pairs with Eather.
Rookie of the year was Caleb Cameron, who was also consistency singles winner, and the most improved award went to bowls president Paul Lodge.
Presentations were made to winners and runners-up in other sports, including darts, indoor bowls, Quoits, singles and euchre pairs.
Indoor overall champion was bowls and sports coordinator Andrew Cameron, who won the indoor bowls pairs with Brock Beasley and the darts singles.
