The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) will again focus on the Hunter Valley and the Gunnedah region with rail upgrade works to kick off on November 20.

Works will include, track reconstruction, installing new rail, improving level crossings, cleaning ballast, tidying up the rail corridors and ensuring the signals are in peak performance on rail lines between, Werris Creek and Gunnedah, Gunnedah and Boggabri and between Boggabri and Narrabri .
The upgrades will see short term road closures around the area including Callaghans Lane, Quirindi, which will be closed between 12pm and 2pm on Wednesday November 22.
Jonathan Vandervoort, the ARTC’s group executive of the Hunter Valley Network said the patience of the public during works is appreciated.
“We know that these works can be disruptive but we are very grateful for the support of the Hunter Valley community,” Mr Vandervoot said.
“We’d like to thank everyone for their patience while these important works are carried out”.
Mr Vandervoot said the works would be carried out in two stages.
“There will be two stages of works within the rail corridor,” he said.
“Stage one is from Kooragang to Muswellbrook north and stage two is from Muswellbrook to Narrabri”.
Mr Vandervoot also urged the public to be vigilant when using roads near train works.
There will be trucks and other vehicles going in and out of the work sites,” he said.
“Please be vigilant so we can help keep everyone safe around work sites.
“During maintenance periods the level crossings and roads that are closed will be closed continuously for access from both sides.
“We ask motorists to plan travel ahead of time to account for any delays and avoid these locations around the proposed times and dates.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works.”
