We have the new library management system up and running, with new wide-screen computers at the circulation desk. 

We also have a brand new printer/scanner/copying machine. This machine can scan to and from a USB or thumb drive, and can also send documents to email addresses, as well as printing material from one of the library public access computers, and copying from your own documents. There’s a small charge for printing, copying and scanning. 

Also new in the technology field in the library is a microfiche/microfilm reader. This new reader links directly to its own dedicated computer and users can crop images, articles or advertisements, refine them, and then send them to the printer. People interested in local history, or pulling up old editions of the local paper will find it a pleasure to use. Staff are also on hand to help you come to grips with the new technology and assist you to get the best out of it.

The Family History Group meets at the library on the second Wednesday and the last Friday of each month at 10.30am. If you’d like some help starting your research into family or local history, just come along to the meetings and the members can get you started.

The library encourages people to recommend titles to add to the collection. If you’ve read a good book, or know of one that would be of interesting, just come along and let the staff know the author and title of the work, and we will do our best to purchase it if it fits into the library’s selection criteria. If not, we will endeavour to get the title by borrowing it off another library that already has it. 

New books added to the shelves this week include the talking book, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and for those who prefer to read, there’s Cooking with Kurma: More great vegetarian dishes by Kurma Dasa, and Two From The Heart - a rare romantic novel from the master of thriller, James Patterson.
