Captain Richard Day said there was a great need for assistance in Gunnedah.
“We hand out thousands of dollars worth of toys and hampers each year,” he said.
“Every year we need more and more because we have more people calling on us for assistance.
“We want the community to help bring hope where it’s needed most.”
Captain Day said there is a need for toys for boys and girls from newborn to teenagers, and also gifts for adults.
“The parents tend to be forgotten,” he said.
Gifts can be dropped at the Gunnedah Salvation Army building on Tempest Street, or the Salvation Army Store on Chandos Street (specify the gifts are for the Christmas appeal).
Gunnedah Salvos is also getting ready to launch its “Bless a Family this Christmas” initiative.
