Acting as a Justice of the Peace (JP) for the last 50 years Mr Waghorn has witnessed countless important documents and moments.
On Monday, Mr Waghorn’s 50 years as a JP was recognized with a certificate from Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson.
Mr Waghorn was very modest when receiving the award.
“I think this is more to recognise I have lived this long,” Mr Waghorn joked.
“Becoming a justice of the peace so young has helped me reach this milestone.
“Most take it on around the time they’re 40 or 50 and because of that they don’t reach this milestone.”
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson praised Mr Waghorn’s commitment to the community .
“To have people in the community to witness those important moments and documents speaks volumes for the commitment and dedication they have to their community,” Mr Anderson said.
