On Thursday the bureau of meteorology predicted 20 to 40mm of rainfall for Gunnedah on Friday with 95 per cent chance of rain for the rest of the day.
The rain is most welcome after the dry winter and will help local farmers boost their soil profile ahead of summer crops.
