GDCA second grade: Court House sneak home over Mornington

Mornington and Court House put in eerily similar performances in their Gunnedah District Cricket Association second grade match on Saturday.

Both innings’ included an opener top-scoring, the top wicket-taker for each side took four wickets each and just two runs separated the teams with Court House taking the spoils.

Court House was sent in to bat as opener Luke Isbester got plenty of kilometres in the legs as he scored 86 runs which included just three boundaries.

Tom Maher snared 4-32 as Court House put on 9-196.

In reply, Mornington’s Pat Maher scored 76 at the top of the list while Bruce Hockings racked up 50 not out.

Court House’s Jasper Thomas (4-29) proved to be a headache all day with Mornington falling just short.

Mornington finished on 7/194 after 40 overs.

The other second grade match pitted Kookaburras against Albion. Gary Briggs (3-4) was the chief destroyer early on for Albion before twin spin combination Michael King (3-14) and Zac Clarke (2-13) cleaned up Kookaburras for 60.

Scott Clarke (37*) then carried his bat to close out an Albion win.
