Quality was generally good with limited numbers of secondary quality young cattle on offer.
There were some very good quality lines of young cattle available.
There were only a limited number of well finished heavy grown steers and a reduced penning of cows.
The usual buyers were in attendance, however, no southern processors operated for the second week in a row.
The demand for young cattle suitable to restock and feed was high and the competition was strong, particularly on the good lines and preferred breeds.
Light weight yearlings to restock saw the steers sell to a dearer trend of 20c to 30c/kg with the heifer portion showing greater improvement.
Feeder cattle also experienced strong gains, including both the steers and heifers.
Well finished trade yearling heifers saw a dearer trend, up 12c/kg on average.
There was little change in the market for well finished grown steers and heifers.
The cow market saw medium weights remain firm, while the heavy weights sold to a cheaper trend, quality also being a factor.
