Gunnedah bowls club will play host to a charity bowls day to raise funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service

The Gunnedah Support Group are set to give the Westpac Helicopter Service a boost on Saturday.

The group will be hosting the ninth annual Mining, Suppliers and Community Charity Bowls Day at the Gunnedah bowls club.

Bowls and a sausage sizzle will be provided to teams of four as they battle it out for the prestigious miners lantern trophy.

Chairperson of the event Rozzie Torrens said the event was well supported.

“This event is always well supported by the people of Gunnedah,” she said.

“Everybody understands how worthy a cause the helicopter is.

“It’s important to fundraise and keep the service free because you just never know when you might need it.”
