On Wednesday afternoon, there’s an after-school program called Junior Brain Games for children aged seven to 12 years. There’s reading and book discussion, followed by some brain games, such as spot the difference, mazes, word games, number games, and so on. There’s a limit of 12 children, so please ring the library on 6740 2190 to book a place for your child.
On Mondays, one of the library staff goes to Curlewis Branch Library in the Curlewis Town Hall from 1pm to 3pm. There’s storytelling and handicrafts that children of all ages can enjoy.
For adults in Gunnedah, there’s Brain training @ the Library, a prize-winning program designed to assist with mental health and wellbeing. The program runs in the morning for an hour from 10.30am and also on Monday afternoon from 3.30pm onwards. Come along and enjoy some fun activities designed to keep your mind active.
The Giant Spring Book Sale is still going strong, with “new” materials added daily. As well as fiction and non-fiction books, there are also large print books, talking books, paperbacks and magazines all waiting to be saved from landfill, and be rehomed! Books are $2 each, and paperbacks and magazines are 20c each. So come along and see if you can find a treasure to add to your own collection.
Plenty of new fiction books have been added to the collection this week – it’s a bonanza for thriller and mystery readers. There are three new James Patterson novels, including Fifty, Fifty. There’s also Catherine Coulter and J. T. Ellison’s mystery, The Devil’s Triangle; Linda Fairstein’s Deadfall; The Rome Affair by Karen Swan, and “an epic story about taking risks and reaping rewards”, Fortune’s Son, by Australian author Jennifer Scoullar.
All these books are ready to be checked out and enjoyed.
See you soon at the library.
