Both played for Central North with McGuirk in the 15s side and Fleming in the 18s.
McGuirk notched up 49 runs at the tournament to be her side’s third highest run-scorer and finishing 12th on the Twenty20 tournament’s run-scorer’s list.
However, it was with the ball where McGuirk stood out. The youngster topped the wicket-taker’s list for the tournament with seven wickets which included the best figures of the carnival when she took 4-4 against Riverina.
The efforts helped Central North make the final, which the side went down in, and saw McGuirk picked as a reserve for ACT/NSW Country at the National Championships.
Fleming proved a rock at the crease during the tournament.
Batting in the top order, Fleming could only be removed twice as she scored 57 runs, the most of any Central North player, to finish 11th on the run scorer’s list. The 18s Central North side scored one win at the tournament.
