Those in attendance were treated to a down-to-the-wire opening race when Cedar Jacob beat Hope He Pays in the Ladbrokes.com.au maiden.
Hope He Pays jumped well from box four and led for the majority of the race.
The Benjamin Spence-trained greyhound then hung out a little wide on the final straight and race favourite Cedar Jacob pounced.
Cedar Jacob stuck to the inside and a direct route to the finish line handed the Andrew Bell-trained greyhound the win by a head to Hope He Pays.
Nurse Vera, trained by David Campbell, finished two lengths back in third.
Bell wasn’t done for the day with the trainer picking up another win in race four with Zipping Stella.
Bell was the only trainer on the day to gain multiple wins with the other nine races – one race on the 12-race card was abandoned – being won by different trainers.
