Activities and exercises for every range of experience were on offer at the camp, culminating in competition days on Friday and Saturday .
Gunnedah Pony Club member and camp instructor Karen Guy said the camp was a massive success.
“Everyone has had an absolute ball,” Ms Guy said.
“The improvement of all the riders and the horses has been terrific.”
Campers were trained in a number of disciplines including show- jumping, dressage and cattle horsemanship.
As well as developing competition skills, campers built ever lasting bonds by sharing dorms together throughout the week.
“Sharing dorms throughout the week has allowed the kids to really build a bond, it’s been especially helpful to kids that have come from far away to be here,” she said.
Fiona Wilkinson brought her two daughters Isabella and Harriet from the Blue Mountains to attend the camp.
“I’m not a horse person to be honest but this camp has been unbelievably positive,” Mrs Wilkinson said.
“The pony club committee have worked hard to make this experience unforgettable for everyone.”
Mrs Wilkinson also praised the local horse riding community for their support during the camp.
“It’s very much been the famous country heart in action,” she said.
“We don’t own horses but people from around the community have been very supportive and loaned us horses so my girls could have a go.”
Mrs Wilkinson feels confident her daughters will want to return to the camp in 2018.
“I’m sure they will be champing at the bite to come back next year.”
