The local has teamed up with Gunnedah Courthouse Hotel to host the Cancer Council NSW event on Friday, October 6 from 6pm.
There’s plenty to look forward to with $12 cocktails, live music by Tamworth’s Aaron Bolton, photo booth with Tori Etheridge, raffles valued at a total of $3000, and an auction featuring local art from Tammey McAllan, Eileen Mair and Amanda Brooks. The theme is pink.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and each year, Ms Jeffrey has welcomed friends and family into her home to raise funds for research.
This year she decided to do something a bit different, and approached Courthouse manager Zac Wheatland.
“I did a Girls Night In every year but this year I want to go bigger and raise as much money as I can,” she said.
“The Girls Night In, it’s just such a great opportunity to raise funds for that cause.”
Ms Jeffrey’s drive to fundraise is close to home.
“My reason behind doing this is that I actually lost my mother-in-law, Noela Jeffrey, about two years ago to breast cancer,” she said.
“This is very, very close to us.
“I don’t want people to go through want she went through or what we’ve been through.”
Ms Jeffery said she had received fantastic support from not only the Courthouse but also local businesses.
“The businesses around Gunnedah have been completely and utterly overwhelming,” she said.
Mr Wheatland said the hotel was glad to support the cause and was anticipating a big crowd.
“It’s pretty close to some of our hearts, so we’re pretty happy to be on board,” he said.
“It’s a no-brainer.”
