The council is sprucing up the back of Gunnedah Bicentennial Creative Arts Gallery in preparation for a pop-up dessert bar event on October 6.
From 5pm-9pm, people can drop by the bar and grab some takeaway dessert or pick up their pre-orders at nominated times.
Gunnedah Shire Council’s youth development officer, Sewa Emojong, said GYC members came up with the idea and Taylah Riley submitted an application for funding under the Vibrant Precinct Project.
“It’s the first of its kind for youth council,” Ms Emojong said.
“They’re running the whole thing.”
Ms Emojong said they were also hoping to raise the profile of the area.
“We’re hoping this area will be used a bit more; we’re showing what’s possible,” she said.
“We use this area quite a lot and we needed a fundraiser, so we thought we’d kill two birds with one stone.”
