Students from Gunnedah South, Mullaley Public and Carinya participated in modified T/20 games at Wolseley Oval on Wednesday.
Cricket NSW game development officer Brett Rankin said the launch was a great success.
“I really love hosting days in the country with strong robust students who are so keen to have a go no matter what their skill level,” Mr Rankin said.
Mr Rankin also said he “was amazed at the skill level and enthusiasm throughout the day”.
In the boys competition first place was taken out by the Gunnedah South Blues, while Carinya Starks and Gunnedah South Heat took out second place honors.
The girls competition was taken out by the Gunnedah South Strikers.
“The girls had fun throughout the day and it was an outstanding success, which is a priority for Cricket NSW as we know enjoyment is the best way to grow the game,” Mr Rankin said.
“Watching eight girls teams develop their cricket skills was really an exciting aspect of the day.”
The junior cricket season officially begins on Friday, October 13 with a variety of programs for all ages.
