Nah, not tough enough for the Year 10 Gunnedah High School student.
In the end, she chose AFL and the Inverell Saints.
She chose wisely.
The Saints won the inaugural AFL North West women’s premiership and Whitton has also been selected to play footy at the AFL National Female Diversity Championships in Byron Bay next month.
“I’ve played all types of football – NRL, AFL, rugby – most of them,” the centre half-forward-cum-winger said.
“This is the first year I’ve played in a proper game [of AFL].
“I love it.
“It’s probably the enthusiasm you get from it and all the fitness [that she loves the most].
“That [playing elite footy] is definitely something I would try to get to.”
