In March, the branch sent a call-out for knitters through the Namoi Valley Independent to great success.
The knitters were needed to hand-make Trauma Teddies, which the Red Cross then supplies to the ambulance service and local hospitals so they can be given to children in their time of need.
Branch member Coral Lorimer said 90 teddies had been gifted to the local Red Cross.
“The response was overwhelming and we are forever grateful,” she said.
“We have delivered Trauma Teddies to the hospital, the ambulance, the pathology clinics and the dentist.
“Approximately 50 have been delivered so far, and we have enough in store to see us through summer, however, by next winter we hope the volunteers will still participate and knit up a storm.”
