Around 200 Chevrolet owners from Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia, NSW, Queensland and America will descend on Gunnedah shire from September 24-29.
Member Rick Malone from Sydney said the association holds an anniversary every five years in a different place.
“They’re likely to turn up from anywhere,” he said.
Mr Malone and fellow members Paul Boyd from Tamworth and John DeBrincat from Sydney said “nostalgia” was a draw card when they visited towns.
“It shows the quality with which they built these cars that they are still running after 100 years,” Mr Malone said.
Rural Museum president Ian Guest said he was looking forward to hosting the group.
“I’m just so happy that they’ve included us in their celebrations and give us an opportunity to showcase our museum,” he said.
“The flow-on effects – you can’t put a dollar value on it.”
On Sunday, September 24, more than 100 vintage vehicles from 1914 to the 1980s will be on display at Wolsley Park.
On Monday, September 25, the visitors will make a run to Keepit Dam for morning tea, then move onto the sport and recreation area for lunch. On Tuesday, the group will have breakfast at Gunnedah Rugby Club, then travel to Robert and Anna Witt’s property at Emerald Springs for lunch in their garden and to watch a display of working Kelpies by Bruce Bell.
On Wednesday, September 27, they will attend a ladies luncheon and undertake a coal mine tour, then head to Quirindi on Thursday, September 28.
On Friday, the visitors will gather at Gunnedah Rural Museum at 9am for a tour and morning tea. They will attend a presentation dinner at Gunnedah Town Hall that evening.
