The girls played Tamworth first up for a spot in the grand final but went down by 20 goals.
However, Gunnedah bounced back to defeat Armidale in the preliminary final – a win coach Nerieda Ewington called unconvincing – to book a rematch with Tamworth.
Gunnedah pushed Tamworth right to the final buzzer in the final to fall short by just four goals.
Ewington said all the girls can be proud of their efforts in the competition.
“The final against Tamworth was highly competitive and the girls really stepped up and played with intensity and purpose,” Ewington said.
“The game was fast and every single player pushed themselves to the limit, despite the result.
“All the girls were well supported by their parents and I couldn't be more proud of a very special group of girls.”
