The local volunteer branch will be taking down details for pet owners interested in the initiative, which will see 150 pets desexed, micro-chipped, and vaccinated over a few months. The cost per animal will be $50.
The registration day will be the second in a month, with 33 registered on August 6.
Member Maddison Lawback is spearheading the initiative, which targets low-income earners and aims to reduce the number of strays and litters in the lead-up to spring.
“I’m determined to reach the goal of 150 animals,” she said.
“I’m really impressed with the amount of people who have taken advantage of our program so far.
“It’s really going to benefit the community and the animals.”
Gunnedah’s three veterinary clinics, Gunnedah Saleyards Veterinary Clinic, Gunnedah Veterinary Hospital and Gunnedah Pet Vet, have come on board and are already taking appointments.
“We really appreciate the support of the veterinary clinics,” Ms Lawback said.
Pet owners interested in taking part in Target 150 can contact Gunnedah RSPCA on 0419 474 689 to register their interest. Application forms will need to be completed, with payment to be made in advance of veterinary appointments.
