The native trees were planted along the boundary line of the school and complement the native trees that have already been established.
The plants were donated by Gunnedah Toyota, which partners with Planet Ark in the annual tree planting initiative.
Gunnedah Toyota said it was proud to support the community through the initiative.
Teacher Kim Gibson said it was good for the students to get actively involved in the initiative and integrated learning with the environment.
Since the school moved to the new site, staff have focused on establishing an orchard and sensory garden, with vegetables and herbs, which also provides a peaceful place for students. The idea for the sensory garden came out of A Garden For Life workshop at the Warrumbungle Environmental Education Centre.
Students can participate in many activities in the garden, including reading rain gauges, fertilising, watering, planting, digging, and picking produce which they can then weigh and sell through the front office.
Principal Sharne Turpin hopes a nature walk can be established in future so the students can explore outdoors and learn about their surroundings.
National Tree Day will be held on Sunday and is an opportunity to do something positive for the local environment and community and reconnect with nature.
Gunnedah Shire Council will be holding a Tree Pop-Up event in the Smithurst Theatre forecourt from 12pm-1pm on Monday.
