First off the ranks is the playground project made possible by the purchase of a double house block in 2016. The block is about 1000 square metres and backs onto the preschool.

The house has recently been demolished to make room for the playground, and the fence between the preschool and the block will be pulled down to make it one space.

The playground design has many features including a bike path, timber fort, dry creek bed, digging patch, totem poles, bush tucker garden, cubby house and undercover COLA. 

Board member and preschool parent, Liz Morris, said work would begin in August, with hopes it would be finished by December, so the preschool can hold a street fair.

The preschool’s ambitious board also want to purchase a bus and build a shed to house it. With a cost of around $200,000 for the pair, the board is researching grants, and fundraising. The volunteers have raised around 10 per cent of what is needed in the past six months.

Fellow parent and board member, Michelle Grace, said the preschool currently hired a bus for pick-ups and drop-offs but having one of their own would provide more opportunities for excursions.

Both Mrs Grace and Mrs Morris have been on for the board for a year and are hopeful about achieving these goals.

“It’s all very new for us, doing all of this,” Ms Morris said.

“It’s very exciting.”
