This year the country of choice was Nepal, with Sydney-based Nepalese chef, Jaya Acharya brought on board to serve up authentic food.
Mr Acharya travelled to Curlewis with his partner Casey Anne, daughter of Curlewis CWA member Sue Collins. He created almost 10 dishes for lunch, including salad, lentils, curries and palou (a rice dish).
Special guest included Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson, and NSW Public Schools director, Wollemi Network, Mark Young.
Students from Quirindi High School, Tambar Springs Public School and Carroll Public School also journeyed to Curlewis to take part in the celebrations.
The classrooms were opened to visitors who were able to see the students’ craft and art featuring Nepal, including a dioramas and a massive paper mache Mount Everest complete with Lego climbers.
In the afternoon, the students and staff had great fun with a “colour event”.
Curlewis CWA president, Elaine Kennedy, said she was very thankful to everyone for attending, particularly Mr Acharya. She also thanked Curlewis Public School for setting up for the event.
