First XV loosehead prop Ben Hamparsum, of Currabubula, is in the Combined GPS White team. The team played GPS Blue on Tuesday and was set to meet the Country Juniors under-18 side at Boronia Park, Hunters Hill, on Thursday.
Joshua Jones, of Mullaley, is blindside breakaway for the under-16 AAGPS President’s XV B side, which plays in a tournament this weekend. The captain of the school’s 16As, Jones was last month named in the NSW Country under-16 team to tour New Zealand in July.
The fixtures are trials for the NSW Opens and under-16 Schoolboys squads. TAS master of rugby David Drain said it was a great chance for the players to be part of the GPS pathway and play with and against some of the best young talent in the country.
