On an idyllic winter’s day, 116 cyclists from around the state and elsewhere turned the highway from Coonabarabran to Gunnedah into a multicoloured sea and an advertisement for the pursuit of happiness through pain.

The annual Keegan Downes Memorial Sundowner Handicap Cycling Classic was a great success. “It turned out to be an awesome day,” race coordinator and rider Nathan Browne said.
