The Gayle Masterson-trained winner did it in 30.51 seconds and while the time was slower than last week’s track record by Knight Sprite, he always looked comfortable.
“He was never going to get beat,” Gunnedah Greyhound Racing Club president Geoff Rose said. “We had a fraction over an inch of rain so the race was always going to be a bit slower.”
While the rain fell, it didn’t scare away the punters.
“It [the rain] didn’t do us any favours but there was a massive crowd here, one of the biggest crowds I’ve seen in the past three or four years,” Rose said.
“That dog Knight Sprite [was the reason for the big crowd]. He’s a Group One dog, it’d be just like bringing Black Caviar to race at Tamworth.”
The Gunnedah & Districts Hoteliers final was taken out by War At Midnight.
