Gunnedah coach Andy Cygan said was a hard game but one they totally dominated in a very professional display.
The defence stood strong with Matt Budden outstanding in goal. Captain Matt Williams despite being injured himself stood in for the injured Wellington Sardinha and didn't put a foot wrong.
Cygan scored both goals. For the first, Zac Crowhurst beat the last defender before putting a perfect cross onto Cygan's head, and he scored low to the keepers right.
He then made it 2-nil in the second half with a calm left foot finish after being sent clear.
“James Tenney, Hugh Jennings and Jordan Barnes are simply unstoppable in midfield dictating play from start to finish,” Cygan said.
Crowhurst and Rowan Keeler were also outstanding on the wing, while Matt Davis led by example at the back alongside Dave Silver.
Reserve grade went down 3-1 but Cygan reported it was probably one of the most pleasing losses he’s been involved in as a coach.
Keeler scored “a cracker” from the edge of the box to put them one up, but Kootingal hit back with three unanswered goals.
Cygan said all 15 players did their job, and pointed out that they have three females in the squad matching it with the men each week. Alexzanna Budge was best on ground for the second time in her first four games, and was so close to a first goal.
