Temperatures are expected to fall to just five degrees on Thursday after minimums in the mid-teens on Wednesday.
It follows a brief period of unsettled weather recently which brought good rainfall across the region.
Gunnedah received a 3.2mm dusting in 24 hours to 9am Wednesday. But the big winners were in North West Slopes and Plains northern areas.
A downpour in Moree on Tuesday night dumped more than 5mm in just 35 minutes about 8.30pm. It formed part of 21.6mm of rain during the 24-hour period.
Quirindi picked up 22mm, Woolbrook 13, Tamworth Airport 11 and Narrabri 9mm.
The rain held off just long enough for the most Anzac Day services in the region to proceed under sunny skies and warm weather.
Tamworth and Region Weather reported areas of rain persisting in the region, fed by strong south westerly winds. The rain is expected to clear by Wednesday evening.
Wednesday’s Gunnedah forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology is for showers. Winds northwest to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h tending west to southwesterly 30 to 40 km/h in the morning. Daytime maximum temperatures between 19 and 24.
Thursday is mostly sunny between 6-17 degrees, Friday is sunny between 5-20 degrees.
