The local business operator initially planned something small but the project quickly outgrew its modest intentions.
“I went a little overboard,” Ms Gilbert said.
“But I tried to represent the spirit of the show.”
The winning display featured many show elements from equine events to the photography exhibition, the craft display, animal nursery and the ever-popular sideshow alley.
Show representative Dixie Walker said Ms Gilbert’s diversity and depiction of show events was a winning combination.
“She covered so many elements,” Mrs Walker said, describing the display as “thoughtfully planned” and “visually attractive”.
Honourable mentions in the competition included Stockholm Florist and its display with “little chickens”. Elders Gunnedah also drew the judges eye with its wood chopping theme.
The competition has run for about the last four years and was supported by Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce.
