Saturday will mark the second anniversary of the car accident that tragically claimed the life of Boggabri singer Stu and severely injured the other members of popular local band Good Corn Liquor.
Gunnedah musician Steve McCauley is organising the show at “the band’s spiritual home” with a start time of 4pm.
“It’s going to be a low-key, casual affair with music all afternoon from various guest artists, and the members of Good Corn Liquor – Nick Wright, Ben Murphy and Ben McCauley – will be pumping out some tunes,” Steve said.
Local band Streamline, of which Steve is a member, will also be playing sets and backing anyone who needs it.
“It’s just an afternoon for everyone to raise a glass in memory of a wonderful mate and a much loved band that brought a lot of pleasure to anyone who heard them,” said Steve.
“We hope that anyone who enjoyed the boy’s music will turn up, and would like to extend an open invitation to any local musicians who would like to come and play a song or two.”
In their brief career, Good Corn Liquor recorded two EPs of original music, and Steve said they had established themselves as one of the best live acts in the country, playing from Newcastle to Darwin.
The band blended bluegrass, rockabilly, and rock and roll into their own style, and those who heard them hold great memories.
