Japan was Australia’s second largest market in 2016 for agricultural, fisheries and forestry products and could be a “future market” for emerging Gunnedah exports.

George Hoddle recently returned from Gunnedah’s trade mission to China and, although focused on that sector, believed Japan’s $4.7 billion worth of Aussie trade could provide more options locally.
“We’ve come a long way down the road in China already,” Mr Hoddle said. “But we’ll keep on eye on Japan.”
The Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA) introduced a range of tariff cuts effective April 1 including honey (2.3%), chilled beef (0.6%) and oranges (1.4%).
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said the cuts will deliver “real, tangible benefits for farmers and exporters across the electorate”.
