In an investigation that was months in the making, The Leader can reveal police swooped on homes in Tamworth, Moonbi and Gunnedah, netting a cache of drugs and suspected stolen property.
Officers from the Tamworth Target Action Group, Oxley Detectives and specialist police from Strike Force Raptor were involved in the investigation, with the assistance of firearms dogs from Sydney and general purpose dogs from the New England area.
Oxley police Acting Crime Manager, Detective Sergeant Jason Darcy, said investigators executed a firearm prohibition order at a Goonoo Goonoo Rd home about 6am on Wednesday, where items were seized from the property.
"Those items are undergoing analysis and further inquiries are being made with the occupants of that premises," he said.
Soon after, officers executed another prohibition order on a Chapmans Rd property in Moonbi, before obtaining a further search warrant from Tamworth Local Court.
Police seized property which they allege was stolen.
Drugs and ammunition were also taken from the scene.
Police confirmed a man was arrested, pending charges relating to the seized property, drugs and ammunition late on Wednesday.
Officers have urged anyone from the community who may be missing farming items including a pump and chainsaw to contact Tamworth police.
Inquiries are also continuing into a firearm prohibition order at a home in View St, Gunnedah, where officers allegedly seized ammunition and prohibited drugs on Wednesday afternoon.
Detective Sergeant Darcy said the operations were part of continued effort to crack down on OMCG activity in the area.
"We are targeting OMCG and their antisocial behaviour in this community," he said.
"We are targeting members in this area and their associates.
“This has been an ongoing investigation for a number of months led by the Target Action Group.
"Police will continue to make inquiries to combat OMCG re-establishing themselves in this command."
He urged anyone with information on outlaw motorcycle gang activity in the area to contact Tamworth Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
