A man has died in hospital following a grass fire near Caroona last week.

Officers were called to the scene of a fire on a property at Coonabarabran Rd Just before 6pm on Thursday evening.
A 36-year-old man who was driving a front-end loader attempted to assist to extinguish the blaze; however, in the process he sustained severe burns to his body, police said.
The man was treated at the scene before being airlifted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
Officers have confirmed the man died died on Saturday
A brief will be prepared for the Coroner.
