Gunnedah Shire Council has listed a proposed new road created in an industrial subdivision, owned by Mackellar Excavations, off Torrens Road, be named Allgayer Drive.
The road will connect existing Torrens Road and Mathias Road.
Mr Allgayer passed away in Gunnedah in late August 2015.
Fellow councillor and friend Owen Hasler said it is fitting the Mackellars have decided to recognise Hans contribution to Gunnedah by naming a road in his honour.
“Hans was very proud of his adopted community of Gunnedah and saw fit to put back into the community by way of his very active involvement as a member of The Rotary Club of Gunnedah West, the Gunnedah Urban Landcare Group, the Gunnedah Swimming Club, and as a councillor of Gunnedah Shire for 15 years,” Cr Hasler said.
Cr Hasler said Hans achieved many awards as a result of his input and vision for Gunnedah’s future, leaving behind a huge legacy.
Cr Hasler said Hans was keen to extend the industrial base for Gunnedah and this new development provides further opportunity for industry.
“I commend Bruce Mackellar and his company for their initiative in this regard and Hans family is very pleased that they have sought to recognise Hans.”
The road name proposal will be on public exhibition until March 1.
Submissions to on the matter will be accepted until 5pm on March 1.
