Gunnedah council advised motorists and residents of interruptions to traffic movements in the area from Tuesday.
The changes come after residents successfully petitioned to have the one-way street restored to two-way traffic late last year.
The road works will leave the current dual parking spaces on the western side but change the eastern side to 45 degree reverse angle parking, complementing the existing parking arrangements in Conadilly St and throughout much of Gunnedah.
Half the Chandos St travel lane on will be closed during construction which is expected to last two weeks.
The project will cost council $72,051 to undertake the works.
